Partial vs. Full Window Replacement: Which Is Better?

Larry Walty II • July 8, 2020

It’s not uncommon to think that you only should only replace a handful of windows that have a specific issue and leave the rest for later. However, depending on how many you need, it may be more practical to replace everything at the same time. As one of the best window and  commercial roofing contractors , we’ll explain whether you should go for a partial or full window replacement job.

Should I Replace Only Some of My Windows?

As a homeowner, you’ll definitely want to do this when you’re sure that you only have issues with some of your windows. You’ll notice that some of your windows look foggy or cloudy and that they don’t operate as well as they should. But if you’re considering this because you think it’s much cheaper than replacing all of your windows at once, know that it’s not always the case.

It May Cost More for a Partial Replacement

Let’s say that a good window and  commercial roof repair  contractor offers you the best labor pricing when you order at least five windows. The price per window is reasonable as it is, but the labor always costs more when it’s a small project since the per window price is the same for projects between five and 200 windows. So if you’re planning to replace all but one of your windows and you decide to do the remaining one later, you’ll be paying for another replacement job, costing you more in total.

Your New Windows Will Also Look Slightly Different

Aside from additional costs, another factor to consider is that your new windows will look, operate, and feel different than your old ones. You’ll have some that are noticeably brand-new and efficient while your old ones just stand out.

It’s also possible that the window manufacturer makes updates to the same model. When this happens, replacing a few windows now and the rest later will result in them looking similar, but not really the same. It may not sound as big of a deal as it is to some homeowners, so think about how you’ll feel before you make your final decision.
